As a professional translator and proofreader, I offer linguistic services tailored to each project: from non-fiction books to advertising texts, video games or web content. My goal is to ensure that each text communicates its message accurately, coherently and naturally.

Translation

In recent years, I have specialised in translating non-fiction books for several publishers, mainly in the fields of history, philosophy, essays and personal growth.

I have also translated marketing and advertising texts for different brands, which involves a more creative form of translation, often referred to as “transcreation”.

Copy editing

My experience in copy editing includes hundreds of books of all kinds: novels, comics, history, art, essays, philosophy, politics, etc.

Proofreading

Proofreading was my introduction to the world of editorial editing. At first, I proofread simple classified ads, later advertising catalogues, and after finishing my studies, I did my first book proofreading. I started with children's and young adult books, and then history, philosophy, biographies, novels, etc.

Video game localization

I adapted a video game set in II World War from Latin American Spanish into European Spanish, adjusting the language to the regional characteristics of Spain. I have also reviewed the translation of another video game set in the 19th century.

Content writing

I have written content for a magazine aimed at students of Spanish on Hispanic culture, as well as advertising texts for websites. In addition, I have written press releases about books for publishers.

Copywriting

I have created original headlines, slogans, and short texts for catalogues, magazines, leaflets, and websites.

What I mean by copy editing

Adjust the text register according to the target audience. Check that the vocabulary is balanced and rich; for example, avoid repetitions and add synonyms. Ensure the meaning is accurate and improve clarity by simplifying unnecessarily complicated expressions and constructions. Verify names and dates. In short, improve the flow of the text to make it more readable and accurate. When it comes to translations, it is important to avoid structures that resemble the original too closely and to improve the naturalness of the text by using expressions from the target language.

What I mean by proofreading

Proofreading is about checking for spelling and typographical errors (double spaces, transposed letters, etc.), review punctuation, verify consistency (standardisation of criteria); in laid-out texts, verifying formats, font size, italics, margins, indents, widows and orphans, titles, pagination, etc.
